A Feminist Poster Project is a public artwork that turns Sfetkidis’ hand drawn posters into a public artwork. Inspired by political poster of the Women’s movement these work brings to life the feminist manifesto “Feminism for the 99%” by Cinzia Arruzza, Tithi Bhattacharya, Nancy Fraser. This take-over of public space, reimagines commercial advertising space as a site for political discussion. The project is adaptable to different modes of presentation; including traditional posters campaigns, digital advertising screens and performative modes.
MELBOURNE FRINGE, 2020
In 2020, Melbourne Fringe in partnership with Plakkit supported the realisation of the project as both a Rock Poster Campaign throughout the inner city suburbs of Melbourne and a walking performance. The walking performance took place over the last weekend of November 2020. Feminist artists and performers walked together through the streets of Melbourne CBD, visiting popular tourist and shopping areas in this precinct.
