I have made it through my first ever solo show and have lived to tell the tell.
Last weekend, saw the culmination of 2 weeks development in the ICU for my ‘Who’s Afraid of the Dark?’ lighting project. It was great to get an audience in there to experience it and some what nerve raking.
What I discovered throughout my second week of development is just how important the role sound was playing in the work. It is funny to think that I set out as a lighting designer to make a lighting installation that ended up being all about sound. However, given the subject matter of darkness it’s probably not all that surprising.
It was great to have two very different groups of audience members over the two nights. Its amazing how really small variations can make a huge difference in someone’s experience. I really appreciate all the feedback I got from those who participated , it has given me much to ponder over.
“What am I going to do with it now?”, you ask
There are a few little ideas bubbling away under the surface for the moment I think I’m going to give myself a chance to mull over it for a little while.
A big thank you to all those who ventured out in the woolly weather to Castlemaine to see it and for those of you who missed out, you will have to make do imagining what it was like from the pictures.
